Pictures from volunteering on Horse Butte - April 19, 2009
Jim Macdonald of Buffalo Allies of Bozeman volunteered with Buffalo Field Campaign (BFC) on April 19. Stephany and Peter from BFC took Jim up Horse Butte, where he took a lot of pictures.
For all the pictures, follow this link.
Horse Butte is a peninsula in Hebgen Lake outside of Yellowstone National Park about seven miles NNW of West Yellowstone. Despite the fact that there are no cows on Horse Butte and support from a lot of property owners (including our friends in Horse Butte Neighbors of Buffalo), buffalo are not tolerated by the state of Montana on this peninsula after May 15. They are forced back into Yellowstone after that date.
Bluegrass & Beyond Buffalo Benefit - April 11 2009 - The Pour House
Hundreds of people came out to support the buffalo and raise money for Buffalo Field Campaign at The Pour House in Bozeman on Saturday night.
The Bluegrass & Beyond Buffalo Benefit was a great success. Co-sponsored by Buffalo Allies of Bozeman and Buffalo Field Campaign, a great time was had by most all. Thank you Bozeman for supporting local musicians and the buffalo!
A lot more pictures of the event can be found here:
What it was like to volunteer with Buffalo Field Campaign
A small group of us with Buffalo Allies of Bozeman went down to volunteer with Buffalo Field Campaign on Saturday. I'm going to share a little here so that you know how easy it is to do and how much fun besides.
Support HB 253 - Montana Wild Buffalo Recovery and Conservation Act of 2009
February 5, 2009. Glenn Hockett of Gallatin Wildlife Association reports that HB 253 has failed in committee. This is very unfortunate and evidence again that Montana government does not support wild bison. Thanks to all the Montanans who do; supporters of HB 253 outnumbered detractors by 4 to 1 during the recent committee hearing.

The Greater Yellowstone Region is home to America's largest genetically pure and truly wild buffalo herd. Buffalo symbolize the natural and cultural heritage of Yellowstone and the West. It is time to manage wild buffalo as valued, native wildlife in Montana. Join us in making a commitment to restoring and conserving wild buffalo populations in Montana.
