It is time to stop the B.S. (Bison Slaughter)
sent out by member Glenn Hockett. Update: Unfortunately, we have confirmed that the nine bulls have been sent to slaughter. All the same, please let these officials know your extreme displeasure at the breaking of the promise that the slaughter was over for the season.
All:
YOUR URGENT ACTION IS NEEDED: Nine trophy Montana bull bison are currently captured and being held in the Duck Creek bison trap, located just outside of Yellowstone's western boundary. The Department of Livestock says they intend to truck these wild Montana bull bison to slaughter soon.
Over 1600 bison have been removed from the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem this winter/spring due to inadequate habitat planning by the governor of Montana and the various interagency bison management planning members that carry out his adopted PLAN. The current PLAN is nothing more than a license to eradicate free ranging wild bison from Montana. It is time to stop the B.S. and demand common sense action.
Please contact the following Montana decision-makers and urge them to stop the B.S. and let these Montana bull bison go! Tell them to adhere to the recommendations of the recent Government Accounting Office (GAO) report and replace this ineffective and disrespectful bison slaughter PLAN with a science based habitat plan.
1. Governor Brian Schweitzer 406-444-3111
2. Montana State Department of Livestock Vet Marty Zaluski 406-444-0782
In mid-April, Governor Brian Schweitzer announced in a press conference that NO MORE buffalo would be sent to slaughter this season. A few days later, the DOL sent three magnificent Montana bull bison to their deaths. Now nine more trophy Montana bull bison have been captured and will soon be destroyed. Due to this winter's severe government slaughter and the uncertainty of winter kill, the bison population may well be below 2,100. No on knows for sure. All we know is that way too many Montana bison have been wastefully slaughtered by this administration and its government minions for no good reason.
There are no solutions in the context of the existing stock grower written and department of livestock led “bison management plan”. It is merely a Montana bison eradication plan. Enough is enough!
We must INSIST THAT THESE REMAINING MONTANA BULL BISON BE RELEASED!
Please spread the word to save and restore Montana Bison! Contact the decision-makers above, and please send this email to all your friends, family, colleagues and co-workers. We stopped the slaughter of 300 bison last year, and we can save the lives of these nine bulls if we keep the pressure on. Please make the call ASAP.
Sincerely,
Glenn Hockett
